Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
We are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting the smooth running of automated production and packaging equipment. This role will involve carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a busy site, working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime, improve reliability, and support ongoing site performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated production, packaging, and processing machinery
Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults across high-speed manufacturing equipment
Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
Work on machinery including conveyors, packaging equipment, and automated systems
Analyse PLC-related faults and support fault finding across control systems and field devices
Record maintenance activity accurately using site systems, including any required refurbishments or overhauls
Work closely with operations and engineering teams to identify and resolve recurring issues
Support training and knowledge-sharing across the team where required
Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures
The Ideal Candidate will have:
A recognised engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Apprentice-trained background in electrical, mechanical, or multi skilled engineering
Experience working within a manufacturing, FMCG, or food production environment
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Experience working on automated production or packaging machinery
Good understanding of PLC-controlled systems and fault diagnosis
Ability to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days and nights
A proactive approach to maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience within food manufacturing or FMCG
Experience using CMMS systems
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Knowledge of conveyors, packaging lines, and automated equipment
Experience supporting both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns
A quality-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
