Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment operating on a 4 on, 4 off days and nights shift pattern. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining heavy industrial machinery, carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently to minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out reactive and planned mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial equipment.
Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise production downtime.
Perform preventative maintenance and assist with the installation of new equipment.
Respond to breakdowns using the site's maintenance management system.
Maintain and organise engineering stores, ensuring stock levels are monitored.
Work closely with production and engineering teams to achieve operational targets.
Complete shutdown preparation work and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Ensure high housekeeping and health & safety standards are maintained.
Support continuous improvement activities and assist engineering contractors when required.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
A recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
Previous experience within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, agricultural or similar environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Experience maintaining heavy machinery in a reactive maintenance environment.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit engineering team.
A proactive attitude and commitment to health and safety.
Desirable Skills:
Welding and cutting experience.
Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations.
Experience using a CMMS or similar maintenance management system.
Experience working with ageing machinery where innovative problem-solving is required.
Willingness to complete additional training, including Abrasive Wheels and LOLER.
