Job Role & Key Responsibilities
The Reliability Engineer drives engineering performance improvements across production areas, focusing on equipment reliability, OEE, Lean TPM deployment, and structured problem-solving. This strategic, day-based role combines data analysis, engineering planning, contractor coordination, and budget management within a high-speed FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Focused Improvement (FI) initiatives to boost OEE and reduce recurring losses
Analyse equipment data (MTBF, MTTR, criticality) to prioritise reliability actions
Implement Lean TPM methodologies and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Optimise maintenance strategies and SAP PM/AM plans
Support shutdown, overhaul planning, and contractor supervision
Manage a £300k ± £100k engineering budget, driving cost efficiency
Ensure compliance with HSE, food safety, and statutory engineering standards
Promote safe engineering practices and coach teams on reliability best practice
The Ideal Candidate will have:
HNC or equivalent in Engineering, or significant FMCG reliability experience
Proven track record of measurable OEE improvement
Strong Lean TPM knowledge and SAP CMMS experience
Analytical skills to turn data into actionable improvements
Experience in FMCG or high-speed manufacturing
Desirable Skills:
Six Sigma, RCA, or RCM training
CAPEX project experience
Membership of a professional engineering body
