We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy chilled food manufacturing environment on a Late shift pattern: Monday to Thursday, 3pm – midnight, and Friday, 3pm – 7pm. This is a great opportunity for an electrically or mechanically biased engineer who is confident working across both disciplines and enjoys keeping production moving with minimal downtime.
The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across site equipment and services, supporting production teams, and helping to drive improvements in reliability, safety, efficiency, and overall engineering standards.
Carry out planned, reactive, and preventative maintenance across production machinery and site equipment.
Fault find and repair both electrical and mechanical issues to minimise production downtime.
Work on equipment including Multi Vac machinery, metal detectors, weighers, sealers, conveyors, and associated production kit.
Support production and hygiene teams by identifying effective repair solutions.
Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, as well as standard maintenance tools and equipment.
Communicate effectively with other departments regarding recurring faults, potential issues, and improvement opportunities.
Maintain good housekeeping, hygiene, and tool control standards within a food production environment.
Support continuous improvement activity across engineering, production, safety, and efficiency.
Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety, food safety, and company standards.
Experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within food manufacturing or FMCG.
A recognised Engineering qualification, such as an apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Strong mechanical skills, with the ability to hold their own electrically.
Electrical bias would be preferred, although mechanical bias will also be considered.
Experience with fault finding on mechanical and electrical equipment.
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and general fabrication.
A logical, proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with production and wider site teams.
Strong health and safety awareness.
The ability to work in a chilled environment, which can reach temperatures of around 4°C.
Previous experience in chilled food, fresh food, seafood, or high-care manufacturing environments.
Experience using a maintenance management system or entering maintenance data.
Continuous improvement knowledge.
Experience working with conveyors, sealers, weighers, packaging machinery, and metal detection equipment.
Good computer skills.
