Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
As a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of production equipment through planned maintenance, fabrication, and reactive repairs. This is a hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, combining workshop-based fabrication with on-site mechanical maintenance. You will be expected to work flexibly in line with changing business needs and carry out additional duties as required by management.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery
Fabricate and repair parts using workshop equipment, including welding
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults using measuring and testing equipment
Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, sketches, and manufacturer instructions
Support reactive breakdown repairs and minimise production downtime
Maintain workshop organisation and cleanliness
Monitor spare parts and maintain equipment inventory levels
Complete daily maintenance records and required documentation
Communicate effectively with production teams and management
Maintain health & safety, food safety, quality, authenticity, and legality standards
Report any risks or unsafe/out-of-specification equipment, materials, or products
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance or engineering role within manufacturing
Hands-on fabrication and welding experience
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
A practical, proactive, and organised approach to work
Commitment to safe working practices
Desirable Skills:
Experience working in a production or food manufacturing environment
Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
Experience maintaining parts inventory and workshop organisation
