Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
As a Night Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety and performance of production equipment within a fast-paced FMCG environment. Working nights on a 4 on 4 off pattern, you will deliver reactive and planned maintenance while supporting production continuity and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime across food processing, slicing and packaging equipment
Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules
Diagnose and repair mechanical and/or electrical faults
Support line start-ups, changeovers and performance checks during night shifts
Assist with improvement works, modifications and small engineering projects
Maintain accurate maintenance records, shift reports and documentation
Ensure all work complies with health, safety, hygiene and food industry standards
Contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvements
The Ideal Candidate will have:
A time-served background or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering
Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing environments
Strong fault-finding capability across mechanical and/or electrical systems
Confidence working independently during night shifts
A proactive, safety-focused mindset with strong attention to hygiene standards
Desirable Skills:
Electrical fault-finding on motors, drives, sensors and control panels
Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
Basic PLC fault-finding
Experience maintaining conveyors, pumps and high-speed packaging machinery
Basic fabrication or fitting skills
