Job Role & Responsibilities:
Electrical-biased Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of automated FMCG production equipment. The role focuses primarily on planned maintenance, fault-finding, and continuous improvement within a mixed-age manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated production and packaging equipment
Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
Support mechanical maintenance tasks including bearings, pumps, gearboxes, and valves
Work proactively to improve equipment reliability and performance
Operate independently during shifts while contributing to the wider engineering team
Support continuous improvement and CI-focused activities
Participate in shift cover, with flexibility to move onto nights if business needs require
The Ideal Candidate will have:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering via apprenticeship
Strong electrical bias with multi-skilled maintenance experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar FMCG or manufacturing environment (food preferred, not essential)
Experience working on conveyors, packaging, and automated equipment
A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work alone on shift
Desirable Skills:
FMCG or food manufacturing background
Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset
Experience working with both legacy and modern machinery
Comfortable working within structured engineering teams and reporting lines
