Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving a mix of both new and legacy production equipment within a fast-paced FMCG environment. The role requires hands-on problem-solving skills, fault-finding capability, and a proactive approach to maintaining high equipment reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery.
Undertake mechanical maintenance including bearings, pumps, valves, and gearboxes.
Perform electrical fault finding and basic repair work as required.
Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise machinery performance and minimise downtime.
Work independently on shift, maintaining a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or a completed apprenticeship.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
A strong mechanical background with solid knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and valves.
Competent with electrical fault finding and repair (essential).
Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently on shift.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with food or FMCG machinery
Familiarity with conveyors and packaging systems
Solid knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, valves, gearboxes)
Confident working with both older and modern equipment
