Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support remedial works at a busy FMCG/manufacturing facility. This is a temporary contractor role focused on completing corrective actions identified during an independent external boiler assessment. The successful contractor will work across high temperature hot water and steam boiler systems, ensuring all remedial works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out remedial works highlighted within boiler inspection reports
Diagnose faults and complete corrective actions safely and effectively
Work on HTHW boilers operating at 140°C and steam boiler systems
Support works across three high temperature hot water boilers and one steam boiler system
Ensure all work is completed in line with current safety, statutory, and compliance standards
Liaise with site engineering and maintenance teams where required
Complete relevant documentation and provide clear updates on completed works
Work independently within a live manufacturing environment
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Proven experience working on industrial steam and high temperature hot water boiler systems
Strong mechanical, combustion, or boiler engineering background
Previous experience completing remedial, corrective, or compliance-based boiler works
Experience working within FMCG, manufacturing, food production, or industrial environments
Good understanding of boiler regulations, pressure systems, and safe systems of work
Relevant engineering qualifications or apprenticeship
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Availability to start ASAP
Desirable Skills:
BOAS accreditation
Gas qualifications
Burner experience
Experience with steam systems and associated plant equipment
Knowledge of statutory inspection remedials and compliance standards
Flexible approach to working arrangements
