Overview

We are looking for an experienced Boiler & Utilities Remedial Works Engineer to support a manufacturing facility with a range of remedial and compliance-related upgrades across multiple hot water and steam boiler systems.

This role will involve carrying out mechanical installation, pipework modifications, valve installations, flushing, lagging, and general remedial works identified during an independent boiler assessment. The work will cover three high-temperature hot water boilers and one steam boiler within a live manufacturing environment.

The successful contractor will be required to assess the site, provide technical input where required, and complete works safely and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation of automatic and manual fuel isolation valves
• Pipework modifications and routing of discharge systems to safe external locations
• Installation of temperature gauges, flow transducers, water meters, and fuel meters
• Modifications to pressurisation and overflow systems
• Creating chemical dosing points and injection stabs
• Flushing hot water boiler systems to remove sludge build-up
• Installation of lagging to exposed heat-radiating components
• Drainage modifications including valves and drainpipe installation
• Steam boiler isolation valve upgrades
• Safety relief valve discharge modifications
• General remedial mechanical works linked to boiler compliance recommendations
• Working alongside in-house electrical teams where required
• Supporting compliance with BHRA recommendations and site safety standards
• Producing clear feedback on completed works and any additional remedial actions identified

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong background working on industrial steam and hot water boiler systems
• Experience with commercial or industrial pipefitting and mechanical installation
• Knowledge of pressurisation systems, dosing systems, and safety valves
• Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, industrial, or utilities environments
• Ability to read and work from technical reports and remedial action schedules
• Understanding of boiler compliance and safety standards
• Welding, pipefitting, or mechanical qualifications advantageous
• CSCS / CCNSG / Safety Passport desirable
