We are looking for a Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a heavy industrial recycling and production environment.
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for keeping production machinery running safely and efficiently, carrying out planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across production machinery.
Work on a range of mechanical equipment including shredders, conveyors, augers, motors, and heavy plant machinery.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly and effectively to reduce downtime.
Support routine checks, blade changes, safety checks, and general engineering tasks.
Work closely with supervisors and the wider engineering team to keep production moving.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
Contribute ideas and suggestions for machinery improvements and process efficiency.
Support basic electrical maintenance where required, depending on experience.
Strong mechanical engineering experience within a manufacturing, recycling, heavy plant, industrial, or similar production environment.
A mechanical bias with a hands-on approach to maintenance and repairs.
Experience working on conveyors, augers, motors, shredders, or similar heavy machinery.
The ability to diagnose faults and work calmly under pressure.
A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude.
The confidence to work both independently and as part of a small engineering team.
Basic electrical skills would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
Previous experience in a heavy industrial or recycling environment.
Basic electrical fault-finding or maintenance skills.
Forklift licence, although training may be provided.
Experience working with planned maintenance systems.
Understanding of both reactive and preventative maintenance duties.
