Job Role & Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will report to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager and be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial machinery, primarily following a PPM schedule. You’ll support ongoing projects, equipment upgrades, and breakdown response, ensuring timely and high-quality work. You will also assist with continuous improvement initiatives and uphold site safety standards.
Key duties include:
Completing PPMs and feeding back improvement ideas
Resolving breakdowns efficiently
Supporting installations and infrastructure upgrades
Maintaining safe working practices and complying with Health & Safety standards
Collaborating with shift engineers to ensure smooth handovers
Working with contractors and other departments to maintain site performance
The ideal candidate will have:
A mechanical background with maintenance experience on industrial machinery (FMCG preferred)
Time-served apprenticeship or a relevant qualification (mechanical or electrical)
Familiarity with working in heavy-duty environments
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Experience toward the later stage of their career, comfortable in a smaller, hands-on team
Desirable Skills:
Electrical knowledge, including fault-finding and basic installations (18th Edition desirable)
Experience with fault-finding to component level
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and steam systems
Familiarity with industrial washing machines or similar equipment
Team-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable to flexible working hours
