We are recruiting for a Contract Maintenance Manager to join a leading FMCG food manufacturing business on a long-term contract basis. This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, highly automated production environment, supporting engineering performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Working on a 4 on 4 off days-only shift pattern, the successful candidate will lead the shift engineering team, manage maintenance activity, and support continuous improvement across high-volume production, packaging, and processing equipment.
Lead and support the shift engineering team on days
Manage reactive and planned maintenance activities across the site
Drive engineering performance, reduce downtime, and improve reliability
Support continuous improvement and engineering project activity
Ensure engineering standards, safety, hygiene, and compliance are maintained
Coordinate contractors and additional engineering support where required
Work closely with production and operations teams to achieve site targets
Manage shift handovers, engineering priorities, and workload planning
Support fault finding and performance improvements across automated production machinery
Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Team Leader, or Engineering Shift Manager
Strong people management and leadership skills
Experience managing engineers within an FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging, pharmaceutical, or high-speed production environment
Strong understanding of engineering KPIs, downtime reduction, and performance improvement
Electrical bias preferred, although strong multi-skilled engineering management backgrounds will be considered
Good knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and fast-paced production environments
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions in a demanding site environment
PLC fault finding knowledge
Experience with drives, motors, sensors, and production control systems
Mechanical knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, and automated machinery
Contractor experience
Experience coordinating contractors and engineering support teams
Strong communication, organisation, and workload prioritisation skills
£500 per day

06:00 – 18:00 working hours
