Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping a highly automated, food/FMCG production environment running smoothly. You’ll carry out planned and reactive maintenance with a strong electrical focus, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure equipment reliability, safety, and performance across production and warehousing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out electrical fault-finding, repair, and maintenance on production and packaging equipment

• Work on electrical, controls, and basic mechanical maintenance tasks

• Diagnose PLC faults and troubleshoot control systems, sensors, and panel wiring

• Complete planned and reactive maintenance, accurately recording work via CMMS

• Overhaul, refurbish, and upgrade machinery and components

• Identify and implement equipment improvements and modifications

• Work cross-functionally to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement

• Support training and upskilling of operational teams where required

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship (UK or NARIC recognised)

• Electrical bias preferred (mechanical or single-skilled candidates considered)

• Proven maintenance experience within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment

• Strong PLC fault-finding experience and understanding of control systems

• Experience working with conveyors and packaging machinery

• Ability to work a rotating double day shift pattern (6–2 / 2–10)

• A safety-first mindset with strong attention to quality and detail

Desirable Skills:

• C&G / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering

• Experience in clean, heavily automated manufacturing environments

• Basic mechanical maintenance capability

• Confident using CMMS systems and Microsoft Office

• Experience contributing to continuous improvement projects
