Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
You will oversee the maintenance of manufacturing equipment, building infrastructure, and utilities, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing operational performance. This hands-on role combines leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement to drive a high-performing engineering team.
Lead the engineering shift team, providing coaching, direction, and accountability for performance.
Deliver corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance across production equipment, building infrastructure, and utilities.
Take ownership of site reliability, ensuring line/area performance KPIs are met.
Plan and manage shutdowns, liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
Promote compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures (including LOTO, Permit to Work, PUWER, DSEAR, COSHH, PSSR, CDM, and Food Safety).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and process optimization to enhance performance and reliability.
Develop world-class engineering solutions and foster a culture of excellence across the team.
Contribute to the Engineering department’s vision and strategy, including energy, equipment, and maintenance planning in line with the Britvic Work System (BWS).
The ideal candidate will have:
Practical engineering, technical, or facilities maintenance experience with a proven record of delivery.
Extensive experience in strategic, target-driven manufacturing environments with KPI accountability.
Strong knowledge of intrusive planned and preventative maintenance, HACCP studies, and audits.
Production line experience, ideally in FMCG.
Experience with HMIs, SCADA systems, PLCs (Siemens S7), and process control loops (PID control).
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and technical problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
IT literate (MS Word, MS Excel).
Time-served apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent; HNC preferred.
Multi-disciplined capability in mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, or software engineering.
Desirable Skills:
IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
Experience with Lean methodologies (TPM, PDCA, 5-Why, etc.).
Demonstrable knowledge of Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental systems, including Food Safety.
