Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
You'll carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid response to breakdowns across key bakery production equipment including mixers, ovens, packaging lines, and site utilities. You'll also be involved in automation, continuous improvement initiatives, and OEE-focused project work.
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and automation faults (Mitsubishi PLCs; Siemens knowledge beneficial).
Carry out planned maintenance to enhance plant reliability and uptime.
Lead and deliver improvement projects from concept to completion.
Promote a safety-first culture through risk assessments and compliance adherence.
Coach and support operators and junior engineers to build team capability.
The ideal candidate will have:
A time-served engineering background within FMCG or manufacturing.
Core skill in either electrical or mechanical engineering, with competence in the other.
Proven ability to diagnose faults and read/modify PLC code (preferably Mitsubishi).
A calm, proactive, and team-focused approach to problem-solving.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable Skills:
NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering discipline.
Experience within food, bakery, or fast-paced FMCG environments.
Familiarity with Lean tools such as Kaizen, 5S, and OEE improvement.
Understanding of CI project delivery and operator coaching.
