We are seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-invested, highly automated FMCG manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving production and packaging equipment, maximising uptime and supporting ongoing reliability improvements. The role offers a strong balance of electrical fault finding and mechanical maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Carry out electrical fault finding on automated production and packaging machinery.
Diagnose faults using electrical drawings, schematics and control systems.
Work with control panels, sensors, inverters, relays, contactors, motors and drives.
Support PLC fault finding and diagnostics.
Carry out reactive breakdown maintenance and planned preventative maintenance.
Complete mechanical repairs, including bearings, motors, chains, sprockets, belts and gearboxes.
Undertake mechanical strip-downs, repairs and rebuilds.
Identify recurring faults and implement permanent corrective actions.
Support equipment installations, upgrades and commissioning.
Carry out root cause analysis and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement projects.
Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain safe, efficient operation.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure PPM schedules are completed to a high standard.
Support site health, safety, quality and hygiene standards.
Time-served engineering experience or an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Previous experience within an FMCG or similar manufacturing environment.
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
A genuinely multi-skilled engineering background, with strong mechanical capabilities.
Experience working with automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Knowledge of three-phase systems, motors and drives.
The ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Experience working within a fast-paced production environment.
PLC fault finding and diagnostics.
Food, bakery, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, cosmetics or wider FMCG experience.
Experience with automated packaging machinery.
Continuous improvement and reliability engineering experience.
Experience with highly automated production lines and process equipment.
