We are seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to lead a skilled engineering team within a highly automated manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining team supervision with day-to-day engineering support to ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime and maintain high operational standards.
Lead, support and develop the engineering team to achieve strong performance and engagement
Plan and coordinate daily maintenance activities across engineers and contractors
Manage planned and reactive maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability
Drive improvements across PPM systems, downtime reduction and engineering standards
Provide technical support and escalation for breakdowns when required
Work closely with production, planning and management teams to prioritise engineering activities
Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and in line with compliance, audit and site standards
Manage contractor activities and support engineering projects
Maintain high standards around food safety, hygiene, contamination control and engineering best practice
Support budget management and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience leading or supervising an engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background
ONC / HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
Experience managing planned and reactive maintenance activities
Good understanding of PPM systems and reliability improvements
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A hands-on approach with the ability to balance leadership responsibilities with practical engineering support
Experience working within a 24/7 production environment
Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or process manufacturing
Experience in highly automated production environments
Contractor management experience
Experience supporting engineering projects and budgets
Knowledge of statutory compliance and audit requirements
Electrical fault-finding experience including controls, sensors, motors, drives and automated equipment
Mechanical experience with conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, pneumatics and production machinery
PLC fault finding experience
Experience improving maintenance systems and reducing downtime
