Our client is an established packaging manufacturer, producing innovative plastic packaging solutions for a range of consumer markets. They focus on quality, efficiency, and delivering reliable products for well-known brands.
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on maintaining, fault-finding, and improving the reliability of production machinery, including injection moulding equipment and associated ancillary systems. The successful candidate will support both planned and reactive maintenance activity, working closely with production teams to reduce downtime and drive continuous improvement across site operations. The role operates on a Panama shift pattern, covering 12-hour days and nights, with two weeks on days followed by two weeks on nights.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery and site equipment
Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
Fault-find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Support maintenance activity on injection moulding machinery and associated ancillary equipment
Maintain and improve machinery safety systems in line with site standards
Support operator asset care programmes and reliability improvement initiatives
Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently
Contribute to continuous improvement and process optimisation projects
Complete maintenance records, shift handovers, and engineering documentation accurately
Prioritise workload effectively while working safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
A recognised mechanical qualification or strong mechanical engineering background
Experience in planned and reactive maintenance within a manufacturing environment
Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Experience working safely on production machinery
A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership of engineering issues
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a close-knit team
A calm, reliable, and solutions-focused attitude under pressure
Electrical fault-finding experience on manufacturing equipment
Experience with sensors, motors, drives, control systems, and general electrical maintenance
Electrical qualifications or multi-skilled capability
Experience within FMCG, packaging, plastics, automotive, food production, or general manufacturing environments
Injection moulding experience would be highly advantageous
Continuous improvement experience or an asset care mindset
