We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced chilled FMCG manufacturing environment on a 4 on / 4 off days and nights shift pattern.
This role will focus on ensuring production equipment, machinery, and site services are maintained, safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support breakdown response, and work closely with production and hygiene teams to minimise downtime and maintain high standards across site.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across production equipment and site services.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on machinery and equipment.
Work on a range of equipment including MultiVac machinery, metal detectors, weighers, sealers, and conveyors.
Support production and hygiene teams by identifying effective repair solutions to reduce disruption.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability, efficiency, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Maintain tools and equipment in a hygienic and safe condition to prevent product contamination.
Communicate recurring issues, potential problems, and improvement ideas with relevant departments.
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety, food safety, and site standards.
Accurately update and maintain data on the maintenance management system.
Remain flexible and proactive in supporting the wider engineering and production teams.
Previous experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
A recognised Level 3 qualification, apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Strong mechanical skills, with the ability to confidently support electrical fault finding.
Experience working with electro-mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and general fabrication.
A logical, proactive approach to fault finding and problem solving.
Good understanding of health and safety standards within a manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with other departments.
Good computer skills, including experience using maintenance management systems.
The ability to work to deadlines in a cold/chilled production environment.
Experience within chilled food manufacturing.
Electrical bias, although mechanical bias candidates with strong electrical ability will also be considered.
Experience working on packaging, sealing, weighing, metal detection, and conveyor systems.
Knowledge of continuous improvement processes.
Experience supporting hygiene-sensitive production environments.
