Our client is an international multi-service provider, offering textile, hygiene and facility service solutions across multiple sectors operating across the UK.
We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop a multi-skilled engineering team within a fast-paced industrial environment. This role will focus on driving maintenance performance, improving equipment reliability, supporting operational efficiency, and leading a strong people-focused engineering culture.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who leads from the front, builds strong relationships with teams, and takes ownership without the need for close supervision.
Lead, manage, and develop the engineering and maintenance function to support operational and business objectives
Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and continuous improvement activities
Drive improvements in equipment reliability, uptime, and overall operational effectiveness
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, legislation, and engineering best practices
Manage engineering budgets, resources, suppliers, and maintenance planning activities
Support installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of production equipment and site infrastructure
Develop maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and efficiency
Lead and support engineering staff through coaching, training, performance management, and development
Investigate breakdowns and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve working practices
Work closely with production teams to support operational performance and lean manufacturing culture
Proven engineering leadership and management experience within an industrial, manufacturing, production, or process environment
Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Engineering qualifications
Health & Safety knowledge with NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications preferred
Experience managing maintenance operations, budgets, and engineering performance
Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead proactively and remain visible and engaged with the engineering team on-site
Experience within laundry, manufacturing, process, forces, or military engineering environments
Boiler or steam system experience
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
Knowledge of ERP systems and CMMS software
Financial and budget management experience
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
