We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on role involves delivering both reactive and planned maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems to ensure maximum equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and support overall operational performance.
Working within a shift-based engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining high-speed automated production equipment while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and site performance targets.
Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment and site services
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and automation faults
Respond efficiently to breakdowns to minimise downtime and production disruption
Support reliability improvements and continuous improvement projects
Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions
Maintain and repair high-speed automated machinery and associated plant equipment
Support delivery of engineering and operational KPIs including efficiency and OEE targets
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times
Provide technical support, coaching, and guidance to operators and engineering colleagues
Work collaboratively across departments to support site operations
A recognised engineering apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent engineering qualification
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience within a manufacturing environment
Experience working with control systems, drives, sensors, and automation equipment
Mechanical maintenance experience including bearings, pumps, conveyors, and gearboxes
Experience working on high-speed automated production lines
Background in FMCG, food manufacturing, or another fast-paced production environment
Experience working within a shift-based maintenance engineering role
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance
HNC qualification in Electrical, Automation, or Multi-Skilled Engineering
Experience with pneumatic systems and automated plant machinery
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
Ability to train, mentor, and support team development
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Adaptable mindset with the ability to work effectively under pressure
