Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

The Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of electrical and control systems within a high-speed, continuous manufacturing environment. The role supports plant availability, compliance, and continuous improvement while operating to high health, safety, and food quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned, predictive, and reactive electrical maintenance on production and site services equipment

• Diagnose and repair electrical and control system faults to minimise downtime

• Work on 3-phase motors, MCCs, inverters, control panels, sensors, and safety circuits

• Provide first-line PLC fault finding (I/O checks, alarms, basic logic awareness)

• Maintain electrically driven process equipment including conveyors, elevators, mills, and packing lines

• Support pneumatic, compressed air, and temperature-controlled systems from an electrical perspective

• Record maintenance activity, PPMs, and spare parts usage using a CMMS

• Participate in breakdown response and call-out rota as required

• Support RCA investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions

• Carry out electrical inspections, testing, and compliance checks

• Supervise and coordinate external electrical contractors

• Support energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability initiatives

• Work in accordance with permit-to-work, isolation, and lock-out/tag-out procedures

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• A recognised electrical apprenticeship

• A formal electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)

• Experience in an electrically biased maintenance role within FMCG, food, or continuous-process manufacturing

• Strong electrical fault-finding skills on industrial machinery

• Experience working with PLC-controlled and automated systems

• Good knowledge of motor control, sensors, safety circuits, and control panels

• Experience using CMMS systems

• A strong health & safety mindset in an operational environment

Desirable Skills:

• Multi-skilled background with basic mechanical knowledge

• Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar PLC platforms

• Knowledge of continuous-process manufacturing environments

• Food safety or HACCP awareness

• Experience supporting continuous improvement, energy reduction, or reliability projects
