Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Team Leader, you will lead a team of 2 engineers while remaining hands-on (approx. 80% on the tools). You’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth shift operations, delivering preventative maintenance, and responding to breakdowns across a wide range of production and packaging machinery. This role offers a clear progression path into Maintenance Management within 2–3 years.
Key duties include:
Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults
Leading daily shift maintenance activities and problem-solving
Overseeing PPM schedules and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
Supporting installations, improvements, and production efficiency
Coaching and supervising team members
The ideal candidate will have:
Electrical bias and strong diagnostic/fault-finding skills
NVQ Level 3 or completed engineering apprenticeship
Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments
Excellent communication and people management skills
A clear drive to progress into a Maintenance Manager role
Desirable Skills:
PLC fault-finding (Siemens/Allen Bradley) and HMI reset experience
Familiarity with a wide range of production machinery, including:
Mixers, extruders, ovens, forming/cutting equipment Packaging systems, conveyors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems Electrical systems: 3-phase, inverters, control panels, sensors
Compliance with 17th/18th Edition IET Regulations
Experience in leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement
